Nice pieces Casey
Did you find the square piston made a difference to the machine? I have an orginal Ali and it's one of my daily drivers although more for packing and blending than shading for which I use my triple cranker.

I too have an original Ali which was quickly replacing my springers as my "go to" machine , it is an early model and could probably do with an over haul but chose to buy a new Ali with the square piston and I find it just as good as the original but so much smoother and a little quieter . I usually use it for shading but have also had great results with packing too . Once I recover from paying my tax bill ( and motorcycle spendings !) I am considering the 4.2 mm version:)

Ah my mistake I thought you had an original round piston converted to the square
I too found the orignal to be a bit noisy but by fine tuning IE lots of trial and error adjusting the cam on the motor spindle I have mabaged to get it to run more quietly
