looks really nice man.. What is the range of stroke and how does it perform with carts?

daza
02-16-2015, 07:18 AM
Hi thank your for the comments the stroke is from 2mm upto 4.5 mm as for carts if I'm honest I don't no so carn't recommend them as I'm old fashioned and don't use them myself but by design I don't think it would work as the abar nippel holder is on a bearing which Keeps the needle bar running straight with no side wobble as these take me about three weeks to build I will have one to go out for test but at the moment only in the UK I've been using one for about a month now and I haven't put it down :)

Wow I knew my machine had potential but F#%k me. Morag you just smashed it out the park how long did that take and any issues with the machine

Mog
02-26-2015, 05:09 PM
Thanks! Need to smooth out near the bridge of the nose but do that next time ....
no, no issues, had my regular machine to hand set up in case I didn't get on with it for shading but was really easy to get on with, went in smooth, no redness, worked really nice with round shader which I normally find a pain, so yeah all in all was nice to use! Also lot lighter than it looks! Was bout five hours today :)

No problem. I will be a little sad to see it go. It is a really nice color packer and a decent liner. I prefer using it with the clip cord as the RCA is a little low for me. Although having both is a nice option. I really wish I got to test it with a large mag. I really felt like it could push a big mag easily. I am sure that when you finalize the design it will be a great machine.

I'd happily give it a good few days running if yr interested, I usually do 6 hour black and grey sessions with lots of solid black, so it will be put through it's paces. Just let me know if you'd like me to help and what you want me to do with it.

cheers.

daza machines are very well and thats i have try was very good but to slow for me :( ... but the build quality and the place of the parts was very reasoned -a lot of builder can some learn from daza. I have some 16mm dcx motors here - one on a dc1 to try :D

daza
04-06-2015, 09:02 AM
Hi darkness the one you tried had a portescap motor in it which I've changed since then.
this is a mabuchi FF-130sh and the one you tried is a totally different machine to this ,the DC2 has FF-180sh in it but thank you for your nice comments on my build quality

If you want to pop one in the post I'll give it a try. I'm normally flite v2 and ss dragonfly with t-tech and magic moon/envy t-tech hi-breed carts.. Just opened my own new studio so I can give it to the apprentices as well to have a go on I'm only in Norwich. What stroke are they? I'm normally 2.5 to 3.5. I do a lot of bng, a few colour Japanese pieces.

Its an adjustable stroke 2mm,3mm,4mm and 4.5 mm but I can make a cam to suite there are markings on the side of the cam so two dots = 3mm, four dots = 4.5mm it's a mabuchi FF-180sh twelve volt motor running around 7.5 volts for cartridge and six'ish for normal

Copper looks good. You know if that adjuster is brass you can soak it in vinegar and it will eat away some of the surface tin and leave the copper and that will make it look a bit more copper.

No problem. And it is Zinc not Tin. I am exhausted today. But you get the idea. Try 12 hours and heat the vinegar first and add a spoon of salt.
