I have been reading through the various threads and it seems that the best option to replace a motor in the Thunder is either the Maxon RE-max 216000 or the Faulhaber 1724rs9. I know many of the members here have played around with these machines so I wondered what the latest advice was ?

Also, if anyone knows if there is a capacitor that will restrict voltage that replaces the circuit board that would also be very helpful :)

You could use a resistor diode. It would restrict voltage and would also only allow it to flow in one direction.

ok... the more difficult part wont be wich motor for me... the most difficult part would be... how do u remove the cam wheel from the original thunder and install it on the new motor ? I would really like to know this one... Because i got a broken Thunder... and i have the motor for it... all i am missing now is the Thunder Cam... because that cam is what makes that non vibrating stroke u suppose :D
If that wont be posible... would a flite v2 cam work in that small room that Thunder has for the cam ?

yes , you can use the inkjecta cam , but , the shaft hole in the flywheel is made to 2.0mm specs , the maxon has a 1.5mm shaft , so you also need a little sleeve
the cam of the thunder is glued with green loctite if i'm not mistaken , some heat to it should get it of , don't worry about frying the motor , if it's allready dead

can someone explain to me why the thunder feels more powerful even though there are machines with similar torque and power?im looking for alternative direct drives that can use standard needles also. any recommendations are welcome
