View Full Version : Swashdrive Brush??

Tony Oliver posted a video but it doesn't show the machine. Says it will be out in three weeks but doesn't say anything more about it. Anyone have and information? From the video it looks like it uses the swashdrive cart grip. I am wondering if it's a pen style machine as the name Brush implies.

teneile napoli posted a pic of it on instagram. looks pretty compact. i contacted tony and said i want in on the first run :) he said to send him an email if you want to get on the list. then he posted the vid. he said it's all billet and (clearly) cartridge only. I can't wait.

Just sent an email, I would love to try this, ever since I started using lighter rotaries, I just never wanted to use anything else.

From what I gathered from Tony Oliver, the Brush will be able to work with regular needle as well as cartiges.

It's cartridge only (according to the message I got from Tony).
And it should come with a billet grip.
Unless they are making another version for regular needles.

Here is Tony Oliver's own words to me when I asked him again about the versatility of the Brush. I can't wait to try one :) : " It's designed for cartridges and has s disposable grip option. I will try fitting standard needles which will need the bar to be cut to length. Get cartridges, they are fantastic and super easy to change"

normal needles are possible when you cut the needle eye but its a pain to do every needle chang but a option when you dont have the right needlesize as carts

From what i gather there will be different configurations for the brush. This is what i received from an inquiry for purchase "We haven't worked out the final prices of the different combinations but will have machines in the next 4 weeks all going well.
I will put you on the list of people to be contacted when I have all the details."

There are a few new videos on their YouTube channel that are showing off the new grip for the brush, and how to change the pushrod.

https://youtu.be/fvTsW20gvis

https://youtu.be/CtqoRs7zZQM

https://youtu.be/tQj5mUacFVw

Also they are supposed to be up any day on the website according their IG account.

I shouldn't be surprised that the grip is new and dedicated to the Brush, I was hoping to try with different grips though haha, ah well. I guess we will have to see if the pushrods have any give options at all, it's only mentioned that there are three lengths for use with different carts.

Looks like the same motor as the flite v2. .

They said they start with a Maxon motor and tweak it with diffrent barrings and custom firmware. So it's the same motor ish as the flite.

They have a brushless slide machine coming out soon. And they still have their cutback whip on their site.

DougHardy

I ordered one, hopefully within a couple weeks I'll have a report. Unfortunately there are no extra tubes that work with it at the moment (Tony said that the tubes that work with it AND the adapter will be available soon) so I'll only have one tube to go with it, but I couldn't resist getting this asap. I'm wanting to get the new Slider as well, but one thing at a time...

Adapter for Brush!
But for me original grip coming with brush is more nice than any grip! And making a machine shotler and comfortable.

Ahhh nice! Yeah I'm hoping that the K-Grips become more available because as glad as I am that there is an adapter I'd like to use the original design grip mostly.

That one looks awesome - i wonder if theres any retailers in europe...

hellraiser6662
03-16-2016, 06:37 AM
That's the problem with them. They don't have someone who deals with all their products in Europe the odd machine and that's it. You can't get their power supply.

Why not just purchase directly from Swash? That's what I do.

DougHardy
03-16-2016, 10:16 AM
And I see no reason why it wouldn't run on any power supply since like the Inkjecta it has the governing circuit built into the machine. I love my Spinner supply but I'll test the Brush with a Critical once the machine comes.

Dameluz
03-16-2016, 02:11 PM
Hellraiser, if you're talking about the spinner there's actually a spanish supplier that has them, that i know of:
http://www.rufner.es/articulo/transformador-swashdrive-spinner-power-supply-1006000005

and yeah, as far as i'm concerned, and apart from its mounting support, it's a brilliant power supply.

As for ordering it from swashdrive directly, Doughardy, i dont know about the US, but i ordered mine from them and in the end had to pay an extra 100€ to get it unblocked at customs in Paris :/

I'm kinda torn. This machine looks absolutely awesome. But with a fixed 3.5mm stroke and no give (I'm assuming) I can't see how it's going to compete with the compact. Except the weight balance, maybe? Looking forward to hearing what those of you who bought one think of them.

Jesse Phillips

In America it is cheaper to go directly through swash than a distributer by 50$ to 100$ You get your gear in like 7-10 days too.

Zbel

ohh yess import dutys are expensive here in denmark aswell..

darkness
03-17-2016, 04:35 AM
when you declare it as gift in germany the customs will appreciate the value ,they use the internet too to get a value. Gifts are only free to a value from 40 usd ( 1x per year and incl. shipping !) the big issue is in germany the customs calculate the value of the item + the shipping value to get the tax ( thats 19% + 3% ) My bad its the brush will only work on carts :(

Same here. I was hoping an adjustable stroke/give... Waiting to hear from Tony about its qualities

I buy direct from swashdrive to ireland. Way I avoid duties coming into Ireland is ask swashdrive to send as repair. Still valued at same amount for insurance but is a repair. Have never had to pay any duties doing like this. :)

I just received mine, and I am very impressed. It lines really nice! But my biggest complaint is that it's really expensive after all the fees, I paid 682.00 usd after everything was said and done. About week to get to me. I haven't tried it for any thing real large yet. Alittle high on vibration also.

Patrick

I'll admit I had my doubts about this machine. But I can't seem to put it down! The stroke is closer to 4mm and it handles absolutely everything with ease. Lining, shading, blending and packing are all pretty effortless. Makes it a lot easier to just concentrate on work, rather than constantly adjusting your machine. Very small, light and packs a punch.

I think its the same motor as the flitev2 .. how many volts can it take as i run my flites around 15v with ease every day for hours on end had no probs...

I believe it's the same base motor as the Flite, with a few tweaks. I run mine between 11-15v with no issues. And there is a slight start up delay, like the V2.

hellraiser6662
07-15-2016, 02:14 PM
Yep ive found nothing wrong with a little start up delay as i run my flites on all the time so it dont get a chance to stop haha.
