Anyone know if the elite disposable grips fit the proton pen? The threading looks really similar.

Yeah, I've been looking at those, I was just curious since the Elite disposables look the same for half the price

I think it's great! I use mine mainly for soft shading and color blending. But it lines and packs as well. Fits comfortably in the hand and is very well balanced.

I'd love to find some disposable grips for it though. It's annoying having to autoclave the two I have every day.

I went ahead and ordered a box and yes, they do fit the kwadron equalizer proton pen. Not an exact fit. But they seem to work fine. Yes!

What about the drive bar and internals I am still skeptical about the hygiene issues with the pens in general?????

Yup NATS sells them for the hawk pen and their pen . They are great well made and well priced . Never had any issues with the pen grips. Fit perfectly and gives some extra peace of mind. Avoid their disposable click grips with the collet lock on top though they are not the best.

About the best you can get with the hawk pen style ones is if you take it apart you can completely unscrew the orange part underneath the grip (its a bitch the first time might need some tools I used two pairs of vice grips with electrical tape to protect the metal) from the machine body then you can spray cavicide directly into it without worrying about it leaking into the motor. Use a q tip and swab it out submerege it in cavi. So you can atleast do a better job then just wiping it down it's not perfect but if you use the hawk pen I recommend disassembling the orange piece under the grip after every tattoo. But always use a cartridge with membrane and never touch the backside of the cartridge with dirty gloves . Use a disposable cart grip. Keep the cartridge needles in a separate area of the work space. Just take all of those steps and you will be ahead of a lot of other people . Or get something like the xion that is very easy to take apart and clean
