The machine will be 350$. The machine I used was just a proto I used only to test the gearing out. I have made coil machines in the past i made a machine called the u frame you can look it up .It was going good tell china copied it and sold it for 26 bucks,, if not for this forum i would never have tried to make a rotary ,so thanks for having this place , when the machines are ready i will let the forum members try it out and send it to the next person on the list. thank you guys.

2.5-4.5mm adjustment would be perfect. Balance would be good. Disassembly, cleaning and sterilization would be a breeze. I'm down for one

merky
10-03-2011, 03:17 PM
350$ will be the price it does adjust within that range with no trouble. I will sell it to members here first , the balance will be the biggest stand out feature and the new range of movment being the next ,no machine to get in the way of your tattooing if your hand fits then you can work that spot with ease. ..thanks again.

we start prodution in the moring and wanted to let you guys know on the forum first , I will give you guys first shot and will sell them for 300$ to forum members ,you can pre-order if you like. http://www.marksmantattoo.com/index.html

10-12-2011, 03:05 AM
Hi, that's cool and a nice gesture of you, so we go via your official web-store, pay the deposit and we pay the rest of the 300$ when the machines are ready, is that how we do it ?

And the question all potential buyers are asking them self, when will it be at my doorstep... he he he.... sorry for being a pain in the a$$ :p

merky
10-12-2011, 04:08 AM
denner it will be 300$ total for forum members,so the pre-order is to make sure your first in line , first come first serve lol. but your welcome to wait till they are ready. when will they be on your door step? as soon as i can them done and put together, my goal is that they are there way befor x_mas 95% of the machine is done on a lathe so it is straight forward process, the motor and gears have a rubber nosie dampening shield and that is done with molds , so i wanted to stay away from any cnc machine like most machines out there and nothing is wrong with that but it is not what i wanted. nothing is out sourced all the body parts are made in the usa and the motor is japanese, this machine will not make you a better tattooist it will make it easier to tattoo with..,sorry to get off on a ramble..

Denner

@merky
Nice, I want one, don't get me wrong, I am hooked on the idea of having a perfect balanced tool for tattooing, so I can keep my focus on tattooing and not have to be annoyed by the machine "hanging" above my hand :)

I know that it is not a miracle machine that improves my tattooing skills, but it will "hopefully" allow me to focus 100% on tattooing, not having to worry about the machine

Placing my order today

hi y'all i'm pretty new to this forum but have been reading up nonstop all week, whew! tons of great info and choices in an ever-widening spectrum of high quality tattoo machines! thank you everyone for pushing tattoo technique/equiptment advancement and sharing that knowledge here =D

i've been using rotaries exclusively, mostly swashdrive, for almost 2 years and wish i had done it waaaaay sooner. i've spent alot of time learning coil machine principles and even built a few that i was very proud of but rotarys imo can be just as good at the job with way less hassle, so i'm a solid roto-convert.

anyhow i just placed my deposit for a marksman, suspecting that it'll make a great liner.

now to save up for a centri, a treasurechest, a dragonfly, and a whip. to start at least;)

It sounds like my american eagle direct drive when i use the t-tech setup-it has a gearboxto so it is most likely its the gears you are hearing interacting with the plunger-but the final one prob wont be to loud as meky is putting a sound damper/shield on them and everthing is going to be more precision made.

merky
12-02-2011, 07:09 PM
I do have some new videos coming soon ,alot of the noise was from the prototype the real machine humms ,Ill try and get them up tonight, the other thing is that the video sounds way worse then real life ,i love using the new flip but i hate the sound quality of it.

they say that the t-tech system tips suck on these machines. It is recommended to use the hawk tips. Hope that helps.

merky

t_tech tips will work with my machine but they are not sealed like the hawk tips,so you would have to break down the machine and clave it. there will be a video showing how you can use the t-tech tips with my machine and keep it sealed.

How do you sterilize your coil machines? How do a thousands of tattooers sterilize their tattoo machines for that matter?

why cant you sleeve it?, cable and all. secure it with a band, Use Cling film over the whole thing each time it's used, wipe them down with germicidal wipes, and at the end of the day break it down and Clave it,
The mention of disposable tubes aint worth a thing cuz it uses cartridge so i dont realy get your point? it aint rocket science

sounds slippery with a plastic sleeve over it. i'm not trying to argue, i really don't care. it's just not for me and as far as i know this forum is for discussion whether u yay or nay a new product. i'm all set with it for the reasons i said earlier.

I personally don't see a problem with bagging it, I use the T-Tech system and bag it and I guess that I will be doing the same with the Marksman, they even said they have a solution for using the T-Tech cartridges in a safe way so lets see what they come up with regarding T-Tech and their non sealed catridges. I don't see any difference between how you would bag this machine and how a lot of people bag the Cheyenne HAWK, I don't think people have like 10 HAWK grips laying around to switch between customers, just my 2 cents :)

The stroke is adjustable form 0 to 5 mm, just set the desired length you want and tighten the set screw and away you go.

MatFink
12-18-2011, 08:31 AM
hmm...not sure if you're describing the length the needle comes out from the tip? i understand that's adjustable. what I'm referring to is how the needle travels up and down through its motion when in use.

Yeah I bet Merky, you managed to get this out onto the market pretty fast too so you must be on tenterhooks waiting for some feedback!

Biggest selling point for me mate is that the motor is in the housing and not at a right angle. Sadly I was blessed with gorilla hands and the Hawk is just plain uncomfortable for me to hold.

merky
12-19-2011, 03:03 PM
limey the marksman boudy width is 1.34 , I got meat hooks too limey so dont feel bad.

fatcashdaddy
12-21-2011, 12:48 PM
I've had a chance to use the marksman and i must say I'm impressed. there are some things i really like about it and there are some things I wasn't crazy about. But overall I really like the machine. The things I really liked were it performance, it tattoo's really well and there is absolutely no vibration at all. My dragonfly felt like a jack hammer compared to this machine. It very comfortable in my hand. I tattooed with it for 3 hours yesterday and when I was done it felt like I hadn't even picked up a machine yet that day..

what I'm not crazy about it the size. I know merky said he wanted to put a little weight in the machine and he has meat hooks for hands. I do not have meat hooks and would have liked the machine to be a bit thinner in diameter. 1.34" is a little beefy for my liking. I would love it if he could scale the handpiece down to 3/4" to 7/8".. this way I could put a disposable grip cover on it and it would lighten the machine a bit.. having said that, the machine still felt very good in my hand and was a pleasure to tattoo with...

I also wasn't crazy about the depth adjustment. its a bit of a pain in the ass if your using the machine for both lining and shading because you have to change the depth between liner cartridge and shading cartridge. And without knowing exactly where you are in your adjustment, you have to kind of guess and use a bit of trial and error to get it where you want. If your just using it for lining or shading, then its no biggie, you just set the depth and leave it alone...but when I used it for both, it was a bit awkward sitting there, pulling out a allen wrench in front of the customer and fiddling with the machine...

again, I really liked the machine, the upsides far outweighed the downsides (i LOVE the absence of vibration in this machine)...merky, you made a good one!

Nothing at all like the L.O.D. machine. The marksman was short, fat and next to useless. The lod is thin, elegant, heavy, well proportioned, and a really interesting, functional machine
