I'm amazed by your cool selection of rotaries, I'm looking to get a few of those same choices. How are you digging that Centri? It's pretty much at the top of my wish list...

asA
02-13-2012, 08:27 AM
Thanks sage. The centri is nice. It's pretty cool with tons of give. Although I'm kinda digging the no give machines, right now. Seems like I move way faster and am able to still blend a lot with my Cheyenne thunder. It's weird but the Cheyenne machine kinda reminds me of my neumas only better.... So I've been kinda neglecting my other machines.

I've been pretty much the same since switching to the Hawk about a year ago. Even more so now I've got the thunder.
I've streamlined my setup right down, now I only have 9 and 15mags in normal needles, and all my other groupings are cartridges and I love it :)

I've have not got the thunder yet, ordering them this week, still doing research:) I know am getting the thunder and spirit together, I want the best of both worlds, doing the same with T-tech cartridges and hawk cartridges. I hear some of the T-tech liners work better. Not sure if I am going to sell my ems 400 and get the P2U power source, or just get the jumper cord. So many decision....lol. So stoked to go hawk though!!!

asA
02-19-2012, 06:49 PM
Yeah loving all the Cheyenne stuff. The thunder runs fine with ttech cartridges at lower volts... No need of the startup cable, I haven't found a time where I needed to run the machine under 9 volts yet. I'm thinking of maybe buyin The pu2 but it's hard to wanna replace my ems400.

asA
02-19-2012, 06:51 PM
Having the spirit isn't a big necessity the thunder does it all.... Having said that though I bought all 3 just to try them out. Haha. But if money is tight the thunder is all ya really need.

Haha for sure. The acoustics in my shop make sure that the sound of my employees coils come right in my booth. I was tattooing Saturday with my halo and my apprentice fired up her coil and it sounded like a chainsaw. I went to see why the hell it was so loud and in her booth it wasn't super loud. It bounces off the ceiling and right down into my booth amplifying the whole way. HAHAHAHA my client said thank god you don't use one of whatever the hell that is.

Wow, the dragonfly X2 has thunder power with all the adjustable give and stroke you'd ever want!!! Did a full day of effortless tattooing... it did everything I asked of it. So far I get about 5.5 hours of constant run time per Battery. It's easy to bag and the weight of the battery is barely noticeable.

The bellmann machine runs so smooth. I did some fine line work and color blendy stuff with it and was tons of fun! Still amazed at the way the adjustable stroke works on this machine.

Both machines are defiantly keepers.

The bellman is smooth and punchy. It has a real different feel to it. The give works great and the adjustable stroke is pretty genius. I've done a few tattoos with it with great success. I just can't put my dragonfly x2 down right now so it's not getting as much use as it should.

asA
03-27-2015, 05:46 PM
More power, adjustable stroke, better give knob with less chatter, easily removable stay up spring and then just a few cosmetic changes like a cover over the motor/excenter. It pushes carts really nice. And with the wireless battery option it gives you freedom to move around... good stuff.

asA
06-11-2015, 02:46 AM
It's a great machine..especially if you have the flite bars already it's crazy versitile, the motor in it has a gaint range. All the torque you'd want and can run fast and smooth. For the price it's worth every penny.

asA
11-10-2015, 11:43 AM
29155 ordered a bunch of ez carts and got their machine.. it's actually pretty solid no frills machine.
Immortal inovations machine runs like a flite v2 with a hard bar, only smaller and with less vibration because of the large heavy grip. The depth adjustment on the grip is super smooth and easy to adjust through the bag.
Cheyenne pen is so good, it lines packs and shades with ease. Basically a thunder in a pen form. And you honestly don't notice the little bit of shorter stroke.
Centri evader, if you're looking for a machine that hits hard off the tips for lining and bogs down and runs soft for shading this machine is amazing. This has all the good stuff from the cobra but with a harder more consistent hit. I'm going to be using the evader a ton!!!

29280 new stuff.. ez pen. I didn't realize it was going to be pretty much a 90% copy of the cheyenne pen... but it is and it works super sweet actually.
Rougetattoo 3d printed prototype. Runs solid aND fast... I expected it to be loud and rattly but it's smooth and quiet.
Electrum 3d printed machine. Super power full will push whatever.
Stigma fly. Had to finally get oe of these. The machine that started the motor bolt system. The give on this machine is sweet. I like it better than the prodigy and this generation of Stigma machines. It's a bummer thsee machines were around for such a short time.
Welker man these things are great. I'm super impressed. More people should be rocking these.
Ego r12 like a flite v2.1 but maybe a better give system. Same motor I belive. Digging it.

Hi asA have you run a cheyenne pen as well to compare the two machines would be very interested to hear, also what is the grip made of that holds the cartridges will it hold up to consent changing of cartridges also what is the length of stroke does the machine stats say you can achieve,Be interested to hear a small review on the ez pen say quite a few more could be interested to hear your take on the over all machine build quality, materials used to build and if it only suits EZ certs cheers for posting asA looking forward to hearing a little review.

asA
12-12-2015, 06:43 AM
I have a cheyenne pen also. The Ez pen in as near to the cheyenne pen as you could imagine. It hits just the same. As far as I know it has the same stroke. Biggest diffrence is the tapered grip and the DC plug on the back. The build construction is really really nice it doesn't feel cheap, it's actually pretty crazy it's only 220$ because it feels just as nice as the cheyenne pen.

Having said all that I'm pretty bummed it's just a dirrect copy of the cheyenne pen. I was hoping for something diffrent, something unique to the ez pen.

Invertedpixel
12-12-2015, 02:13 PM
I tried the Cheyene pen the other day, I really really wanted to like it, but I couldn't find gip it comfortably. It seemed like too much of the cart stuck out past the grip. Usually I run a Swashdrive compact so it's probably just my muscle memory messing with me. I do want to try it again and see what my problem is, because the machine seems wonderful.

the ez pen have the same motor - have look inside :D and yes asa i have buy a welker too and be very very impressed. I love this machine. I have try the new John Clark -they run very nice too but they dont go slow like the old faulhaber version. Its runs always very fast and hard. My wire was broken as i get the parcel but i notice some high quality home video cables or every 3 pole / 4 pole home cinema wire is running the machine very nice and with less weight from the wire.

Say asA - can the grip simply be unscrewed and autoclaved on that EZ Pen? I've noticed that unfortunately no one seems to sell separate grips for these things so you can purchase them separately. Also, is it a no-give type unit?

Yeah no give, also no extra grips for sale as of yet... they said there maybe disposable grips in the near future. The grip that comes with it is exactly like the hawk pen, except it seems like it may have some kind of coating to make it hold up better to autoclaving.

29810Had to post my collection, they look to good all together to not share. I've bought and tried many different machines, these are my daily drivers. Except the last three coils machines I decided to keep just as a reminder of how it all began. Only machines I plan on adding now is an Evader, a Dan Kubin Sidecranker and the new FK direkt when it is released. Thanks for looking

I bought an EZ pen a while back,it is quality and works well, that being said I recently bought a Hawk pen and can now compare the two. The Hawks grip screws on and off a bit stiffer than the EZ,it also seems lighter but I haven't weighed them to verify. The Hawks Faulhaber motor has more torque and runs faster it seems, the Hawk simply works a bit better and faster. Now this is operating either and 10v,next time I use the EZ pen I'll bump it up to say 11 or 12 and see if that bridges the performance gap. I'd say they're both great and both work, slight edge to the Hawk pen though despite the price.

How about the stroke do you think the hawk pen is longer than ez by a bit ? Gone back to my thunder last few days still my fave

They are both supposed to have the same 3.5mm stroke,as far as I can tell that's correct. The performance between the two is pretty similar,I think if the EZ pen had a Maxon or Faulhaber motor it would perform exactly the same. If you have the extra cash get the Hawk but the EZ pen is no slouch and will do the job just fine. I've had the opportunity to see a few tattoos heal from start to finish with the EZ and everything heals smoothly and quickly, barely flaking at all.

No problem,I think even thought the EZ is a knockoff ,the Hawk is a knockoff as well so it's not really an issue. I think the EZ people should up the price just a tad and use a nicer motor and they would have a real contender. That being said I don't think the Hawk is worth $400 more, they're gouging a bit but it is a good machine and lines and shades flawlessly. My client said that the EZ pen hurt less FWIW.

hey asa what witch one would you prefer edge x or stigma prodigy v2????

for shading the prodigy v2 is the best - similar to the dragonfly x2 / the edge x is more hart and better for colorpacking and lining ,but some prefer a more hart machine for shading too. So its not easy to choose. Its more preference and the own style. When you like to shade and color with the thunder i would go with edgex - when you more on the give site and love to work with the spirit its the prodigy v2. When you knowing the dragonfly x2 so you knowing how the prodigy is working
