Can you use a non-cheyenne machine on the PU-I?
I'm sure I saw somewhere that was ok, but can't find any adapters or any info.

I guess I'd just need something like this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Adaptor-3-5Mm-Stereo-6-3Mm-Socket/dp/B000LB3LOA/ref=pd_bxgy_ce_img_b

or just make up a new lead with rca jack on one end to 3.5mm stereo jack on the other.

You can make your own. I would check the polarity as well. I understand that the polarity is flipped somewhere. I don't know if it is the hawk cable or the power supply. It can't hurt to try. I was going to buy a hawk about 5 years ago when they were getting popular, I didn't because I was told that they only work on the hawk power supply an that other machines would not. I imagine that was incorrect information, but it stopped me from buying one.

got this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130645443881

see if it works. there were some cheaper ones, but that looks nice, compact and solid.. maybe I should have measured the hawk jacks though. I presumed they were 3.5mm, but I guess they might not be.

Isn't the end of the hawk cable female? That looks like it is for a male connector.

yeah I mixed up what I needed. Although as long as the machine socket in the PU-I is 3.5mm, I have a cable with both male ends that might do the job.

The PU-1 works with other machines but you lose a lot of the versatility as you are limited to the voltages you can select. It really depends on the machine you are using, ones a wide voltage range work a lot better than something with a narrow range...

i used my PU2 for my micky sharps aswell as my hawk- no prob at all. but as the limey said, u are limited, and they have no direct translation to the no's on the PU2, best to listen to your machine- not best.
Coils need to be run on low on the PU2.

I don't have any coils..... well I have one that doesn't really run well.
It's just for the ss dragonfly.

Well as yet I've not managed to get anything else working on the pu1.
I've tried a mini jack cable with both clip cord and RCA end direct in to the pu1 socket. Neither worked.
I've tried the hawk cable first with the mini jack cable plugged in the end. And that didn't work either.

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot to adam for sending me his spare adapter. Turned out I just needed a mono big to little and ot works.

Heres my test setup.
PU-1 > mono big2little > 1/4" mono guitar cable > selector box > Thunder + other.

And the jump start the pu-1 gives the thunder still works :)

Heres the selector box I use. You can power it to light the led but there's no need really

http://www.brightonion.co.uk/products/AB-Switch.html

The only other part is a standard mono 1/4 Jack to Jack cable to link the box to your psu. :)

ok, i will try to understand this in the morn, but how does it work? 1 pedal into to 2 clipcords? i'm new to gadgetry :)

JohnnyChaos

yeah. the selector pedal sends the power from your PSU to one of the outputs at a time. So you just push the switch to alternate between machines :)

sound like a great plan- on it
