Ink creeping up needle bar = MESS

Striped my dragonfly down today as the ink creep got everywhere - I've read the other thread here ref this problem on a few machines - anybody got a cure?
It was eternal ink - which I know is thick and causes an issue, but the needle bar was running in the centre of the tube ( good luck irons )

I think alot of the issues is with the needlebar tension device-cranked down to tight it can cause this. that part can be taken off and bands used.I think rotary rin much better with thinner inks.

Haha I have a pink dragonfly too.. OK maybe I have a few pink machines. I was just talking shit. I've never had ink creep on any of my machines though. And I use mostly eternal.

Where we're you working on the client what size needle and tube?

Yeah was working on a client, set up with a 7mag, using an Allaprima sureglide tips in a stainless 1" grip with good luck irons back stem.

i had the same issue today. i find a lil vas on the bar helps stop the creep if it starts, altho today i forgot and now have a huge mess to contend with its a nightmare

When i had a dragonfly it happend once to me !
What a mess it was,takes hours to clean it !!!!

ive just got a pink one also afew days ago! i hope it doesnt do this to me, sucks for you guys.

If you read the Dragonfly manuel it suggests you bend your needle bar, then ,when winding down the tensioner, just enough to make the bar central. I've never had any issues, I do always bend the needlebar somewhat.

Less tension on the bar and just a slight bend right behind the cluster works. And I know a lot people are caking on some ointment midway on the bar, its working for them too....... I love the the pink!
