Hi guys...for some reason i cant find much info on the taptat daddio site????...maybe you guys can help...

What stroke do the original neotats have that are marked as the letter P on the back?
What strokes are available in the original neotat?
Can the vivace stroke be changed by ordering a different cam without the motor ???

Thought id ask...im really impressed by my vivace and original and want to know more....

Cheers

1.8 ,2.5 ,3.5

I have never asked specifically what they stood for but it makes sense.

Original
C 1.8
S 2.5
P 3.5

Vivace
. 1.8 (special order)
.. 2.5
... 3.5
.... 4.2

You can probably change just the crank wheel but its much easier to change out the motor. Depends on how often you want to change it really. Shoot an email over to [email protected] and Karen or Ray will be able to give you the best answer in regards to changing out the crank vs a motor.

The back plates on the the new machines are all now marked with the dot system.

the frames are a little dif so it depends on what stroke you are trying to move to ..only reason i know that is because my apprentice has a 1.8 and wanted to move to a 3.5 ..........i asked ray at the Detroit expo and he said it all depends on the frame markings if you can or cant ....

Mine is labeled X and that is 2.5 I believe.

Mine is labeled X and that is 2.5 I believe. i also have one with x on it which is a 2.5. it seems like that might be one of the older markings on the neotat 2.5-which means extra from the 1.8 which was the first and only one out for awhile-we should get ray on here to give the full low down on the different markings over the years and on the overall changes such as if a 4.2 cam would fit any of the neotats.

I have talked to Ray ( super friendly and very helpful I might add ) he told me that the older frames can not take a bigger stroke. He said that if there are ( if memory serves me correctly ) two small holes in the metal behind the slide then the opening for the bearing is big enough for larger strokes. If it doesn't have the two dots/dents/holes then it can not.

so i took apart my three neotats today-two had the larger holes n two small dents in the slide and one had no dents and a smaller cam hole-there is also the one with the smaller cam hole has more metal in the back frame-the top has a hole ported out for the motor wiring-the larger cam ones has the top backed milled out instead of a porthole which makes it lighter-.
So one is 2.5 with the smaller hole and one is also 2.5 with the larger cam hole but they both have different slides and the cam counterbalance is bigger on the larger ported one yet its the same size stoke-also on the smaller ported one the motor seems alot slower at the same voltage and is unmarked yet is all original.

Year by year there have been multiple changes made to the machines from neotat.

Hey slick, is the 2.5 you got from me the slower or faster one?

slicksteel

much slower n softer-and no markings on the motor also inside is different and more metal in back frame an small cam hole-i know some were sold as cosmetic machines that had no markings of tell you stoke length as they dont care about that sort of thing lol. the volts on this one at 12 would be the same on the other one at 8. So its going to work out cool as i will use this for when i want very soft greywash work as the motor an slider hit much softer in this 2.5.
I think i am going to throw maxons in the other two neos that have the bigger cam holes.:)

Mine is labeled X and that is 2.5 I believe.

im swapping for two vivaces with "x" on the back ..does this indicate different strokes?

yep they all have dots know, both the vivace and neo tat . .. ... .... to show cam size/stroke
the first neos had no marking showing stroke length on back and only takes the 1.8 & 2.5 cam then they went to these markings when they changed the frame & slide: ray confirmed this for me today.
c=1.8 cosmetic
x=2.5 extra
p=3.5 power

i thought the different "x" locations meant something

the pink one with the x to the left was the first one before the p 3.5 was released-they they were all centered up untill the dot markings came out and the website was taken off and "original linear" put on.
also the first ones had the name/website in thin in-graving after the ano was done so it looks like silver.
