I am looking for suggestions for a Direct Drive with a 4mm to 5mm stroke.. something well desgined.
What would be the best... not looking for a large motor or anything super powerful just something supper smooth for color that seems to have a sweet hit.
Suggestions?

There are a few people who just acquired Roman's new DD. Look out for some reviews once there is some legitimate needle in skin time on those.

Dan Kubin mini DD all the way.........they are superb.

I use my h&m adjustable direct drives every day. Already have about 15 hours on em and they are hands down the best DD made IMHO, and I have had many different DD's from many different builders. Mick-

I too have an adjustable stroke DD from HM, must have 20+ hrs with it. It's my go to colour machine and is also super smooth shader. I set mine at roughly 3.5mm stroke which is plenty.

how would a HM compare to a dragonfly? or halo?

It wouldn't, it's a different type of animal, one last thing I will add is it is the most versatile rotary design I have in my drawer.

I love Direct Drives. A machine stripped down to its basics is the way to go for me. I have a Kubin mini DD, just modified with the Nedz adjustable cam. And I recently got an Uncle Roy DD, but not tried it yet (not sure why I mentioned that now??). The Kubin machine is awesome though, cant fault it.

Worked out great. It Fit the Kubin nice and snug (with a very minor filing of the motor pin, just to get it to sit flush with the front of the machine casing) And it makes the machine so much more adaptable.
