It doesn't do it with every machine,if I run my Rotaryworks at say 3 volts eventually the back plate of the PS starts to get hot.However I can run my Dragonfly at 11 volts and it doesn't even get warm. The PS is a Talon digital-any ideas?

Sounds like the Rotary Works draws more amps than the Dragonfly.
Do you know how many amps the Talon supplies Pete?
