Portrait of my dad

I don't really post to much on here...but here's a portrait I did a few months ago using charcoal.Attachment 17641

You have much experience using charcoal?

Thank you Vinoshitto! yeah I've been using charcoal for years. The only medium I haven't used much is watercolors. But I just ordered a set to play around with.

That's spot on man! The hair really impresses me as I find it difficult to stay fine and sharp with charcoal.

Just gotta sharpen the charcoal with a razor blade. i usually carve out the point of the pencil about an inch or so to give it that super sharp point. The charcoal usually stays sharper longer

Very very nice, the hair really is great. I always end up smudging charcoal with my gorilla mitts :(
