Broken vice on ego v2 >:(

I was setting up my ego v2 yesterday with a disposable tube from kingpin and noticed that the vice wasn't holding the tube firm at all. I looked closely at it and one side of the vice was busted all the way down. I'm not sure how well you can see in the pics but yea. I'm pretty pissed about it. Tried to expoxy it last night and this morning it looked like it was fixed til I slid a tube into it and it busted the damn expoxy. I'm going to try again to repair it but in the meantime I'll email bez and cross my fingers that he actually replies.

First off plastic is never used as a vice in any application that i am aware of,
so how could someone think it would work in this way? Seems set to fail from
design .

The ego v1 is a plastic pinch vice and it works great but feels like it'll break if that makes sense so they changed to the guillotine style to avoid that and I think it's worse because the corners where mine cracked are stupid thin whereas the sides of the old vice were kinda thick. My v1 ego runs smoother anyway smh

My whole ego v1 developed tiny cracks all round the screws, then finally the vice snapped. I sent it back to powerline and they refunded no quibbles so maybe I wasn't the only one?

you jb weld-I have fixed plastic cracked car radiators with it-that had pieces missing even. becomes hard as steel and can be filed. I just dont see why these v2 were not made in metal,he charges enough for them to made that way.

His aluminum made Apex is 730$ US with the same power triangle system as the ego. Clueless on why it's being sold for that much.

I don't know how well it'll hold up but I found that super glue works real well with plastics.

Or some types of modeling glue, as they contain solvents that in affect melt the plastic together. However you have to be careful as you can ruin your machines if you use too much.

I used two ton expoxy to repair it after I cleaned up around the crack with a dremel tool. We'll see how that works. I looked on the ego website and couldn't find an email or any info on repair/service or whatever. I don't feel like shipping it to Australia anyway and being I got the machine second hand I doubt replacing the front of the body would be free.

If not try 3M panel bond epoxy. The vise will break somewhere else before the epoxy will. I've put cars together with it.

Send me the old vise to take dimensions, I'll machine you one out of Aluminum if you are not in a rush. I'll do it for a bag of cheerios and shipping

Don't pass that up. It's too good. Custom half aluminum ego sounds awesome. Might run quieter too.

That's interesting Brian, only the other day I was mulling over adhesives that can successfully bond metal to metal in a situation where you can have temperature fluctuations and moving parts.
