this would be a good start for a project, correct? so 92.00 for a single maxon 216000 RE-max 17 Ø17 mm, Graphite Brushes, 4.5 Watt, with terminals plus 20.00 s&h, not cheap but worth having the best to have a quality product going to call tomorrow and see what the cost for ten would be. http://www.maxonmotorusa.com/maxon/v...product=216000

so is it common to use a 6v or 9v rather than 12v? I always assume the more volts one can get away with the less amps your have to draw from the ps?

If you can go a mm either way the amax series work out cheeper

I checked those out and looked at the 4.5w 6v motors. I think I like that range a little better than the 12v from the research ive been doing they don't require as much voltage to work and can achieve the same torque. from what ive ben able to gather at least

Mine are 6v motors, the 9v is good too. Torque really isn't a problem. My machine could line rhino, you can't stop the thing. Try eBay, there is a company in the UK called Farnell that sell the amax range and they work cheeper than Maxon direct. If your having trouble getting them shipped to the USA im sues there is something we could sort out. Are you looking for something around the 16-18mm range?

definitely 16 to 18mm that would be cool ill let you know what I find and get with you when I learn a little more about what it takes to bring these ideas to a more progressive stage. less in my head and more to the drawing board if you will, lol. I just want to do this more for personal purposes than anything like I said, but I appreciate your help.

I believe the halo is 6v.then I believe the vivace is 12. That's why you can line fast at 9v with a halo, but to get that same torque and speed from vivace you run 11-12v.

well I thought I would post that I got some portescap motors from digikeys, the 16n78 models, some 6's and some 12's. IMO these run smoother and stronger than the maxons, motors are 50$ a piece and 8bucks for overnight shipping, (well they are 15% more ef. and have 1w more power than the maxon 21600 with very similar size)

i think the halo uses 4.5 watt 12v. At least that's what i remeber.

youre right peezie, i knew it was a 4.5w i just thought it was a lower voltage for some reason. i do know the vivace is a 12v and runs at a higher voltage on the pu
