B&G portrait with NeoTat Vivace 4.2mm stroke

Took about 6 hours-ish. Done with the x-long stroke Vivace, One ink (red in lips is Starbrite), and 7 and 15 mags.

Nice piece. Good contrast,smooth tones, just the black in the lips that looks a little dark to me.

Thanks a lot fellas, I was pretty unsure about using the Vivace for black and gray portrait work, especially since I only have the extra long stroke motor, but it is definitely the smoothest running machine I've used so far and works well for soft gradients. Yeah the lips seem a bit dark in this picture, maybe its the settings I was using on the camera, but they look lighter in person....not by a ton, but definitely more so than in the picture.

If you get a chance, please post a healed photo. I always find that when I think I went too dark on a portrait that it usually looks a lot better healed.

looks good. Do you also have the med. stroke neo? How would you compare the stroke in the machines for blk n grey? I have a real swiss which is a 4mm stroke, and ive been wanting to get a neotatt for blk and grey portrait work but im not sure what stroke to get??? I like the swiss, but wonder if a shorter stroke would be smoother.

Looks good, you should get the 2.5 motor soon and try that out! Makes it go by alittle quicker and easer to get smooth shading.

Yeah I'll get a pic up when it heals, the client is actually my next door neighbor so should be pretty easy lol. And I only have the 4.2mm motor, but I definitely plan on getting the others since this machine rocks my socks so hard. And methric, my coil machines have always had a super short, fast stroke length with plenty of give, so I was pretty surprised that the long stroke Vivace worked so well.....I imagine that the shortest stroke would be a lot easier to work with.
