    new rotaries with dampening

these are my first 2 direct drive rotaries with dampening.
I find they work better for black and gray as well as coloring. The elastics on the bottom one give it a make shift adjustable dampening.

That last one doesn't look like it has a lot of metal on it. It must not weigh very much?

These are my prototype models. I will have nicer hand-made ones for $250-$300

Wow, that IS strange. I wonder why that is? Maybe one of our mad scientists can answer that?

I would think the weight of the motor/drivespinner is weighing down the sping(pushing down against the front off the frame that is rigid) so it drops the needle down with more force were as the harder spring makes it more free floating(holding the motor up with some bouncy-a meduim coiled spring would prob work best as you get some playbut not to much either way. Also such things as how thick and the space between springs wraps is something to think about.
I think this is a super cool idea as it actually use gravity and machine weight to effect performace.
