Thats exactly what I keep telling the wife.............."its not for me per se, its for the good of the seasonal traditions" Its just my small contribution to all things festive :-)

So I started lining the sleeve I started tonight and after three lines almost went back to my coil. Then I kept at it figured it out and OH MY! What a liner. I am already talking to Dan about a second and I promise this one will be a one off machine.

Got my new one on the way. Its a father christmas coloured cranker, keeping in with the seasonal tidings. Just while im on this thread again, been trying to use the hairband style bands, but been having loads of issues with them breaking every 5 mins, ive even added some shrink tubing to the band retaining screws because I thought the thread was causing the breaks, but it made no difference. Ive reverted to going back to 2x regular bands with a "good" bend on the needle.

I use one regular rubber band with a bend on the bar and it works fine. I can't see why you would need more than that.

I need to ask, why the "hair bands" are you are talking about the small ones that can be used with a Halo..

Im not too sure if they are the Halo style bands, as ive never used a Halo Paul, but I tried with the black bands you supplied with the cranker we traded, and I bought some slightly tighter ones too. Both dont last too long. Im using no 14 bands now, 2 of them. If I get the bend just right (I try to get the bend near the top of the tube), and use 2 of these bands with a bit of stretch to free them up, prior to placing them, I get a nice clean stroke with no friction and a good ink flow. I maybe have too much tension on the needle bar though, considering im using 2 bands. I know these hair type bands get used frequently by other forum members. Just dont seem to work with me. For what its worth I use my crankers around the 6.5 to 7 volt range.

I don't understand why people feel the need to bend the Bar, I totally understand the concept, but. If your Machine is set up correctly, there is no need to bend so the needles sit towards the back of your tip...Think about it, you are bending your bar/solder/needles " out the way" so that the "bands" will draw the needles "back in the way, under pressure", or, put another way, towards the back of the tip, and run straighter....If you feel the need to bend anything, "carefully" bend the needles them selves inwards, and let the bands do the rest..
