new and had a few questions about a rotary im going to purchase

I asked a dude who builds machines if he can build a rotary that will be used mostly for dotwork and whip shading only. Does this machine seem legit? what are some questions i should ask about the machine before i send money for it. im totally new to rotarys, i'm currently using a stealth and haven't used any other type before. any input would be great.

Heres a tattoo I've done. outlined with a coil machine and used a stealth rotary for the shading and dotwork. i cant get good whips with the stealth so i had to get my black and grey shader and go over it to try and smooth it out. what stroke length would work best? and would that rotary the dude built work out for what im doing?

That machine looks like a straight copy of a Nicks Rotary....if its a machine for salt and pepper shading you want you'd be better with a direct drive rotary, something like an Old Timer or a DD from Dan Kubin

Looks very similar to a Chinese rotary painted,,,,not trying to be a dick saying its a shit quality machine,,, search eBay and ya will come across the machine I'm refering too,,,, it has "tattoo" enscribed on the frame,, would post a link but on me phone,,, and agree with the direct drive machine for what ya after,, nicks or kubin are great tools
if goods on the left, then im sticking to the right

Depending on what side of the pond you are if you wanna buy in your continent there are multiple builders that make good dd machines. Shipping and import taxes will sometimes effect how much you want to spend unless you are dead set on one builder.
