Hello everyone, just wanted to say 'Hi', this is a brilliant forum so far. Been using rotaries mainly for shading, trying to make that jump into lining with my Rotary Works machine....still haven't found that sweet spot! Hope you guys and gals can help me out! Hello and welcome!
What machine from RW are you using?..
When it comes to lining with rotaries I have more luck in a longer stroke and maybe a little give.. especially for larger needle groupings.. but hey, that's just me.
I use my plain brass RW for smaller needle groupings and some b/g work..Winds of shit...

What I found with lining with rotary was to use a disposable grip to counter the weight of the machine give it a go

Welcome to the forum! Hope that you enjoy. I found that I'm not the biggest fan of lining with a rotary. Not to say that there aren't some great rotaries for lining out there, for me its more of a "feel" thing if that makes any sense. Although l still use my Dan Kubin Mini Cranker for lining quite often. I love that machine. Highly recommend getting one. And I'm the opposite re: disposable vs stainless. I like the weight of stainless for lining with a rotary. But I'm trying to switch to all disposable. In any case, welcome, good luck and hope that you enjoy the forum!

Lining with rotaries is tough because there are so many options and variables out there and it's so subjective to how each artist tattoos. I've found that I like the Gen 8 and Ego most for linework of what I've tried. Nick's Abar rotaries are nice as well... It's all trial and error which is why this will be a useful forum for you I've traded so much and have got to try out so many machines it's ridiculous... Rotary Works are great machines just depends on how you tattoo that will dictate how great they line for you... Either way Welcome!!
