It's around a $25-30 upgrade I was told by Neotat. I'm not sure what is different about it but that it can go slower and faster than the previous motor and has a brass cam wheel which is 2x the size of the other standard one, so they said it's even more smooth operation and balances the machine a little bit more.

Also Heath, the motor cartridge is something you can order separately. If you wish to get a different stroke length. Let me know what you think of your "magic".

I just installed the 3.5 magic in my vivace and it will really pack the color in at super low volts. Loving it so far

btw, does the "magic cartridge move as fast as the regular motors on the top end with just more torque? or is it just really slow all around?

the motor that drives the "magic" is the same as any other Vivace motor cartridge. the speed is the same. the difference is in the size and material of the crank wheel. the crank wheel is bigger and made of brass. this gives more action in the fly wheel. once you are at a certain speed this does make it a little harder to change speeds as it has more rotating mass.

the "magic" is available in house at NeoTat- 928-473-4185 or [email protected]. Shortly Eikon and Unimax will most likely have these available. your best bet remains to call us directly.

what do you mean it makes it harder to change speeds? I guess I just don't grasp what it is that means?

Wheel will pick up speed because of its weight. Making fine adjustments to speed will not be as simple you may need to make slightly bigger jumps in the voltage to really notice a difference.
