My thunder started playin up starting and stoppin half way into tattooing.. so I pulled it apart.. ripped out the saftey over voltage circuit (the problem) and direct wired to motor... works just as good as my brand new thunder.. just fink my warrantys void hahaha :)

question, what exactly is the sole purpose of the cheyenne circuit? i never actually paid enough attention if this has already been answered, haha

It a fail safe if machine exceeds 13 volts im lead to believe the chip cuts it out..

Its to not exceed 13 v trough the motor
It doesnt cut out
It limits to 13 even if u put more voltage on it

that is wrong. i own spirit and thunder. both auto cut off it does not limit the voltage the machine stops running and wont start until the voltage is lowered on my eikon ems 400 this happens around 14.5 on both machines.....

So what is the top voltage of that motor? They may have done that so they never have to worry about burned out motors.

yes i think that is one reason and also because the hawk machines are so quiet i never use it above 11v ever. usually lower 8.5-9.5 they are so quiet i coul see some artists cranking the fuck out of it and not knowing because it ddesnt sound like other rotarys when run very high its still almost silet

I just also brought a brand new one and the leaflet inside said do not exceed 13 volts. But I use a cheyenne power supply so....

Why didn't you change the end for a rca? I've found ditching the lead on the old hawk and the circuit it made it run even smoother, plus mines now got a halo motor in it!

Is that on a thunder dude?? I tried to fit rca in but the fki one I had didnt fit through the hole, plus I use the pu2 power supply for my other thunders and spirit. Came away from coils lately so my cx2 sits in a draw tbh..

No they don't fit through the hole, you should pull the wires through then solder it on, push back into the hole tighten grub screws to hold it in place!
