Video of my Gen7 Acting a Fool

Okay, so maybe it's not the Gen7's fault, but I do need to know what the hell I'm doing wrong to this poor thing so that I can start using this machine more confidently.

I've already e-mailed Samyo, but I figured it couldn't hurt to post a couple of the videos I sent him, maybe one of you could hit me upside the head and show me the light. Figured it wouldn't hurt, especially assuming that Samyo is a pretty busy guy, and hoping that my issue is somewhat of an easy fix.

Before I send you the links, I'll tell you what I've noticed from my machine, which was bought used:

-a very inconsistent rhythm while running the machine loaded.

-the needle seems to be changing depths as it's running.. in the video, you can see it from the back of the machine... it kinda moves forward and backwards slowly, as its running.

-the machine has a weird delay when it starts up, before getting to its full speed. (This could very well be totally normal, and i'm just being a hypochondriac about things)

as always, thanks for the time guys. appreciate any input. and again, i've already contact samyo, but figured if it were a simple enough solution, it would be worth posting on here.

If that hole isn't supposed to be there, i'm gonna feel like a smacked ass.

Should be a set screw there.. I'd imagine

those eikon are not ment to run rotary only coils-they cause power fluctuations and can some sometime cause power spikes which will burn out your motor.
get the latest model or the non meter critical.
Or get one of these they (have been using one for years)produce clean high volts,low ripple and noise and alot of amps will make a rotary and coil run very smoooooooth and will also make the motor last longer.

i don't typically run the machine through that eikon, i was just doing it because it was the only way i knew to get a reading to show how inconsitant it was.

also, a new power supply is in my future. hopefully, before a new machine.

does anyone else with a Gen7 notice anything in the picture that might be missing? SHOULD there be a set screw in there? or am i pretty much looking at a burnt motor?

I runa Gen7, just checked 2 secs ago, and you are DEFO missing a wee grub Screw...:eek:

They are supposed to have a set screw there.(had a few swashes)

Yep the set screw that holds the swash plate to the motor shaft is missing. This could very well be your overall problem. Replace that and then run it. If the motor still fluctuates, your motor has gone bad or , more likely, you got oil into the motor. There was a"memo" a couple months back to stop oiling the Gen 6 and 7. People were putting too much and it was running down the shaft and into the motor. This happened to me.

Contacted Swash thru email, sent it back to be fixed. I think the whole thing took about 2 weeks, mostly due to customs. Great people and great customer service.

Replace the set/grub or whatever the fuker is called, and it should be ok....

I actually haven't oiled the Gen7 since I bought it used, I was under the impression that they didn't have to be oiled..

and those numbers on your power supply will never read right with a rotary.
