View Full Version : virgin mary with charcoal, advice?

so i used a stick of charcoal and my finger as a brush. worked pretty good except hard to do small detail that way. anyone else use charcoal and have a better "brush" idea? the filigree on the sides is just pencil (oh and this is the print i made of my original)

you can get pencil blenders - they are essentially pencils made of paper that have a point ...

i like her hands, very slender and delicate, maybe overkill on the blood though, just opinions.

I use a combination of cotton earbuds and small paint brushes, both pointed and flat

Ear buds, Blu Tack, Cotton Wool. But ohhhhh so never a finger. Good though mate.

haha. thanks guys! im going to try again with some of these suggestions, the dude who taught me to paint HATES charcoal. said he doesnt like the feeling so we never ever used it hahahaha
