Hya all looking at getting a cranker for some nice thick one pass lining as i hear there good but seen theres a few models. One with a thin bar with a spring and one with a thick bar. Im not familiar with these machines which one is best for lining. What stroke also ect

the ones with the fatty abar big stroke around 4,5 5 mm at 6.5 volt i have all models liked the mc2 the best... the next mc14 will be the same
So the mc2 is the best liner ect thats the one to go for?

I have the mc2 with a 4mm fatty bar I line with, and one with the thin bard and spring 3.5 that I shade and color with. Love using them. You really can't go wrong with either.
Is the spring a give system? And that fatty bar non give ect

I have an MC2 for shaing and love it but yet to try a liner, I like the MC12 and 13s just because the stroke is adjustable
Not to increase the options and make your decision harder, but the MC 12 is a beast!
Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with any of Dan's machines. I've used the mc12,13 and mc2. They all line like beasts. Need to get my hands on one of his DD's next.
The thin abar has very little dampening for the strike force, it is very close to the feel of a linear DD. This makes it great for carts and large large needle groupings. The fatty abar actually houses the bar that the nipple and needle attach to. This bar is secured a bit further back into the fatty bar. This allows the inner bar to have a small amount of give at the point where the nipple and needle connect. This extra dampening helps float the liner needles in the skin and give beautiful lines especially with the somewhat smaller groupings. Another neat thing about the fatty bar is that it has a plastic sleeve around the inner bar, it can be seen right behind where you put nipple. That sleeve keeps the inner bar in place and stiff, but if you slide it off, it allows that inner bar to "give " just a bit as I stated before. Slide the sleeve back on, and you have less dampening. I feel like the fatty bar has a bit more options for dampening amounts, than the thin one. And that's why all my mc2's have the fatty. Hope that helps a little.
