i really dig this. the face is my favorite drawing subject. i really wanna try out toned paper so i can use some white charcoal for highlighted areas.....something ive never tried before. i think im gonna pick up some light grey or yellow toned paper tonight at hobby lobby

Thankyou. Done on recycled paper , takes some getting used to as its a bit "stiffer" than what i normally use . Called it a sketch as i was being a bit flippant with myself as my improvements are slower than i would like!! Heres a drawing done in February this year that ive set as a little benchmark for myself, with the hope of improving further, hope that makes sense. And yes Dave faces are fascinating subjectsarab lady.JPG

electric and kneeded erasers are awesome for highlights and hair. and i use a sponge paintbrush to make my entire picture nice and soft, brushing the entire thing before i pull my highlights out. they look like this

these are some of the tools they helped me break into some super soft realism . prismacolor ebony pencils are also amazing for ur dark blacks...can get about as black as charcoal without that silvery sheen that normal pencils give(to an extent) . and they dont make a smudgy mess like charcoal.
