Hello all, been lurking for a bit and thought it only polite to introduce myself, know a few names on here but theres plenty ive yet to meet:) Im a slighty grumpy nearly 44 year old from the UK just getting to the end of my first year as a professional , albeit i only work on Saturdays so am still very much a novice. Those of you that know me will know im very much a coil kind of chap (understatement im sure!) but have just invested in a Nedz (long stroke was too long for me but have just changed to medium and am sure i will get on fine with it) and am looking forward to sharing my non coil experiences with you all. So once again a big HELLO:) some of my work can be found herehttp://www.inkjections.com/#!portfolio/vstc1=nature

Welcome. Only one year as a professional, and in your 40s. Kudos to you to start at any age. Did you do it as a non professional before? Did you do an apprenticeship? Or just jump in feet first a year ago? Sorry for all the questions. I'm just curious, please don't take my questions the wrong way. It's a nice forum here, I think will enjoy it. Lots of good information.

All questions are good! I started to teach myself to tattoo about 11 years ago (if my memory is right) was quickly crushed by the local "pro" and that was that ( a lot more was involved but thats the sum of it) fast forward a few years and i get this urge again , have always been a keen artist an felt this was a great medium to show off my work. long story short ..put some work online and was given a place in a studio , bloody lucky i know and ive got so much to learn. Every piece i do is shite in my eyes and i get so bloody frustrated but strive on as best i can

Sounds like you have a good attitude. I wish you the best of luck. I am on my phone so I couldn't view your work ( no flash support ), but when you are more comfortable I hope you will post some things on here for critique.

welcome. i started out of the house at 30 yrs old and gave myself a shitty apprenticeship for 3 1/2 yrs and i've now been tattooing pro for 4 yrs. not everyone is lucky enough to have someone show them the right way to do things. i used flats for the 1st yr...ugh.
you seem to have a great attitude and i too am my own worse critic. there is always something i don't like about a tattoo i've done. it's nice to see someone new come post a link to their work. i wish more people on here would upload pics of their work so we know what kind of advise we are getting on critiques, needles, etc.
you don't even need a rotary to be a member on here and there are plenty of coil users on here that would love to talk about coils with you too.

stretch that skin tight and the rest is pie. it looks like your a good artist already and learning that is truely the hard part.
